Being United
Several years ago, Ray Stedman, author of Authentic Christianity, said of today’s verse, “It is very important that you hold that concept clearly in your mind if you want to understand how the church works” as “the means by which Christ functions in the world.” All the believers around the globe who belong to the same Lord and are filled with the same Spirit are intended by the Lord to function together as His body. It has become ever more challenging – in these days of increasing division and conflict in the U.S. and around the globe – for the Church body to work in compassionate harmony and singleness of purpose. Imagine how the world would change if the whole of Christianity were united today! Ask the Lord to show you your part in cultivating unity in Christ and His love, whether it is in your family, among friends, or in your church congregation, and encourage others to do the same.
